Happy October!

Let's pretend that I haven't been MIA for the past 5 months and carry on with crafting as usual. I'm sure I've got a lot of craft photos to post but I don't even know where to begin. I had a really busy summer and I'm getting ready to settle down for some cozy knit and crochet crafts for the holidays. I can't wait to see the fun things you guys are all working on. Welcome back. :)

24 days till the Mitzvah!

I'm getting so excited and it isn't even my party. :)) Here are a few updates. Sorry for the repeats. We are nailing down final details and I'm trying to not add on too many extras.

9!

Holy Smokes! The munchkin is now 9! We celebrated her birthday at the rock climbing center. She had a great day and all of her special people were there to help her celebrate. Here are a few details from her party.

This one isn't birthday related but it is kiddo and fun related. I made this cute paper parasol arrangement for her room for a little spring fun.

OT Goodies

When Pinterest meets work... I have a lot of kiddos with sensory processing deficits so I made these lap buddies for my little pals. I was at Big Lots and found these super fun socks (that only I would wear!) I filled them with rice and then stitched them closed. They don't look very long in the photo but they are a women's crew length so they cover the whole lap and give the kids the input that they need to be able to attend to their work. Plus they all love having a little "helper."

I also made these action sticks for when we need a break. Most of my children have goals to attend to a task for x amount of minutes. I don't know about you, but even I have difficulty attending for 20 minutes. I blame it on my iPhone! ;) I found this cute metal watering can at the Dollar Tree. I printed, cut, and laminated the little circles and glued them to foam craft sticks. The kids love acting out the silly actions for a special treat.

Mitzvah Updates

I've also been working hard on Mitzvah planning. The big day is coming up in 6 weeks, which means invitations go out this week! :)) I forgot how much work goes into making really straight lines. Luckily, I didn't have to assemble them.

Craft Sale

Hey guys! I can't believe it has been over a month since my last visit here. I have had a busy time at work lately with my annual conferences and family time has kept me occupied as well. Last month was the Lucie's Place craft event where I sold some of my items.


My good buddy saved up copy paper boxes for a long time to help me make my setup. I put duct tape around all of the edges to add stability. I ended up covering each shelf with moss that I had from moss table runners from my wedding. While it added a nice effect, all of my items had moss clinging to them. ;) Overall, I was pretty happy with how everything turned out. I did the best that I could. I was proud of all of my items and felt like I prepared the best that I could. If I ever did this sort of thing again, I'd be sure to bring something to work on as it gets boring and I get nervous when people are shopping at my booth.

Hey hey! I'm really bad about remembering this place. I'm really cramming for my big craft fair. Just a few more weeks! I've mostly been on a knit/crochet kick lately. I made a couple of aprons for the craft fair. I learned to granny square and I really just want to granny square everything. It's my answer to all of life's problems. Put a granny square on it. I've also made a few of these cute grocery bags. Is there anything sweeter than a cotton knit bag full of produce? I think that's all I've got for today. Mitzvah Planning

Hello friends. I've been a busy bee lately. Along with preparing for my craft fair, I'm planning a Bat Mitzvah for a friend wayyyy across the country. I've never done anything like this before but it's so much fun and I know Elaina will be over the moon. :))

Table Layouts: We decided to not use the table runners. It is going to be a luncheon and we want it to be simple and clean. Each place setting will have a paper utensil bag and a pinwheel.

Candle Lighting: I've never seen this done but the kids are doing a candle ceremony where special people light candles from different aspects of their lives. I made this box with a cardboard box wrapped in satin and dollar store candle holders. The end opens up to store the candles and holders for transport.

What Is That?!

It is what you think it is. I blinged out (I wish I could think of a better word!) a standard walking cane. I made one of these for my grandma when she was still alive. I occasionally work in nursing homes so I know this first hand, old people are paranoid. They think everyone is trying to steal their cane, walker, chair...but they mostly misplace them. There would be no misplacing this fancy cane!

Rag Rose Necklace

I learned to make fabric roses... and then I made a million of them. I couldn't stop. I had a compulsion to glue roses together. I ordered more of that fabulous Moon Ragg Yarn, made from recycled sari fabric. I arranged the roses and attached them to a felt backing and then attached the necklace. I think they look super cool. I'm not sure exactly who will wear them but I hope someone appreciates fun colors as much as I do. 

Another Pinterest Fail

I saw these adorable suncatchers on Pinterest and thought it would be worth my while to try my hand at them. First of all, make sure you do this craft outside because it really stinks! In fact, it is most likely toxic! I lined my baking pan with transparent plastic beads and baked them in the toaster oven for about 15 minutes and they made somewhat interesting forms. I don't know what I was hoping for but I was just underwhelmed with my results. The smaller shapes would take too much time to make enough of. Thoughts?

Crochet Yoga Strap

Awhile ago, I got this bright idea that I needed a knitted yoga bag... it was a bust. I spent so much time trying to cram my mat in there and ended up not using it. I came upon a tutorial that was just for a strap that is adjustable! It was so easy to make. I whipped up a handful in a few hours.

*I'm obviously not headed to yoga class. ;)
